Home Depot sells home improvement materials, building supplies, tools, appliances, lawn and garden products, and décor through ~2,300 large-format retail stores across the US, Canada, and Mexico, plus an online store with roughly 1 million SKUs. Customers are a mix of DIY homeowners and professional contractors. Revenue comes from direct product sales and, to a lesser extent, installation services and tool/equipment rentals. Through acquisitions of HD Supply, SRS Distribution, and GMS, the company has expanded beyond retail into wholesale distribution of maintenance/repair supplies and specialty building products (roofing, pools, landscaping, wallboard) sold primarily to professional contractors through distribution centers.
